Start with actual household use
An efficient cookstove only produces a climate benefit if it is installed, used and maintained. A project must establish a credible baseline for traditional cooking and measure how the new stove changes fuel consumption.
GreenLeaf’s teaser proposes an initial rollout of 115,000 stoves in rural Zimbabwe. That is a plan, not proof of future adoption or emission reductions.
Measure and verify the difference
Monitoring records need to show stove distribution, continued use and the fuel savings attributable to the project. Independent verification reviews the method and evidence before a registry can issue credits.
The teaser models approximately 1.54 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent reductions per stove each year. Actual verified results may differ.
A credit still needs a buyer
After issuance, revenue depends on selling credits at an achievable price. Methodology changes, buyer demand, government deductions and transaction costs can all affect proceeds.
